The goal for any project that is intended for professional and official release is to plan out a strategy that will best achieve what the artist is looking for with the budget they have, and so costs for recording will likely vary from one artist to the next. As such, there isn’t a generic cost that really can be offered, as any one day recording can be very different from one project to the next.

What is guaranteed with all projects though is that at bare minimum there will active planning and working towards their projects leading up to it, be it research into styles and influences that an artist might want to incorporate into their work, mapping out a schedule that best suits various contributors to the work, as well as a degree of flexibility with the timeframe in case it’s needed.

Pre-production is also considered. On the day of recording the goal is to do just that: record. So even if planning to book just one day to track a handful of songs for an EP (as is quite common for local bands), then to ensure that that day is used most productively, an additional afternoon the day before of prep/setup will be included at no extra cost.
