About GDI Studios

GDI studio room

GDI Studios is a recording & rehearsal studio managed and operated by Louis Gaudet out of Eagle Farm, Brisbane.

Running as a subsidiary studio within Brisbane’s historic Scream Ahead Studios, GDI is the result of many discussions with other musicians and artists alike; a studio space where artists can go to not only record their music for release, but to plan their records, explore ideas, and to leave all the more keen and inspired for the future.

The cost of recording can often feel like the greatest limitation for a musician, with many having walked away from projects feeling as though they simply hadn’t enough time to fully realise their work. At GDI, the goal is to never have an artist feel those limitations, nor concern themselves of extra costs due to a day running long or the request of an additional mix revision. The end result should be something they aren’t just satisfied with, but are truly excited by, and so the job isn’t done until that is the case.

GDI also offers bands the opportunity to do full, 22-track live recordings, both in-studio as well as out on location, with the option to film these sessions and have an edited live video. As well as numerous in-studio sessions having been tracked at GDI, other locations/establishments we’ve recorded bands live at are Diffuszed Studios (recording and rehearsal studio in Woolloongabba), King Lear’s Throne (bar and live venue in Fortitude Valley), and even a carpark show held in the 4ZZZ carpark with Lismore’s Masochist. Provided there’s permission from the location chosen and enough planning ahead of schedule in terms of any special setup requirements, there’s essentially no limitations as to where an artist can record, be it in Brisbane, a venue interstate, or out in the desert or a forest! (A generator would be required…)
